You could say that photography is in Dawn's blood. Her father and grandfather were both keen amateur photographers plus her grandfather also worked at Ilford, the black and white film and paper company. As a youngster Dawn was usually to be found with a camera in hand and justifiably earned the affectionate nickname of "David Bailey" in the family.
This early creativity and interest grew and saw Dawn study History of Art at university. She gained a M.A. (Hons) in History of Art from University of Aberdeen in 1992 and a post graduate M.A. in Victorian Art and Architecture from Royal Holloway and Bedford New College, University of London the following year. This love of history and architectural design shows still in Dawn's images as she delights in photographing historical buildings within the landscape.
Dawn's passion for photography has continued to grow in the 30 years since she first picked up a camera. The creative possibilities provided by the digital technology now available has led her to where she is now, sharing and selling her images in a variety of media. Captivated by the intricacies of nature Dawn uses her camera to record the delicacy of flowers in her Flower Portraits. Inspired by beautiful places she uses her camera as a creative tool to capture beautiful landscape images and architectural studies.
Dawn has been very fortunate in having lived in three different countries over the past 10 years. In 2003 her family moved from Scotland to Singapore which afforded her some fantastic travel photography opportunities including many destinations within Australia plus Cambodia. She is now based in The Netherlands having returned to Europe in 2010. Here Dawn is grasping the opportunity for travel with two hands, producing travel images from Jordan, Malta, Italy, Austria and France plus locally within The Netherlands.
This website was launched in 2009 for Dawn to share her passion and imagery since when her photographic career has gone from strength to strength. As a freelance photographer Dawn contributes to stock photography agencies and websites (AGEfotostock, Alamy, Fine Art America and Photographers Direct) selling her images as Rights Managed images licensed for editorial and commercial use. A range of Dawn's Floral Portraits are available direct from her as Greetings Cards, Coasters and Placemats. Images are also available as prints. Dawn has also branched into property photography offering photographic services to real estate agents and property websites. One to one photography tuition covering the technical and creative aspects of photography is also offered. Dawn has recently invested in top of the range scanner and printer to facilitate her new “FotoFix” service to restore or enhance your photographic memories.
